Membership
The Sisterhood of
Avalon opens for membership only at the Celtic Portal Times of Calan Gaeaf
(Samhain) and Calan Mai (Beltane).
As we are presently
between Portals, the Sisterhood is not currently accepting applications for
membership. We will open again for the Calan Gaeaf Portal. We recommend that you
subscribe to the SOA Updates
list, a low volume announcement-only list, in order to be apprised of the
next Portal opening and other SOA activities in your area
Below is an
introduction to the Membership Process Path. Please read it to get an idea of
what to expect at the next Portal, should you choose to apply for Membership.

The Sisterhood of
Avalon represents a very specific path of study. We are looking for women to
join us who are ready to undertake a self-guided path to empowerment. Sisters
with more experience on the Path will be there to help you along the way.
However, this is a path for the self-starting, mature seeker.
There is no
"book" to be handed to you. You will do a great deal of your work on
your own. You will enjoy the company of a vibrant online community of Sister
Seekers at all levels of Attainment. You will also share learning community with
Sisters at your own level.
Every single
position of responsibility in the Sisterhood of Avalon -- from the Morgen to the
Council of Nine, from the Board of Trustees, to all of the myriad positions that
bring the Sisterhood into the world -- is tended to by volunteers. It is an
enormous amount of work, yet it is a service undertaken joyfully.
Your yearly
membership dues of $36.00 go to support the mundane realities of running an
organization of this kind which spans the globe in our scope and membership --
SOA publications, office supplies, maintaining this website, 501(c)3
expenses, and so on. As well, a percentage is tithed to organizations such as
the Chalice Well Trust; pooled to build the SOA Land Fund, so that we might
create and maintain Women's Land and Goddess Sanctuary patterned after Avalon of
old; and dedicated to providing scholarships for SOA learning opportunities such
as the Avalonian Thealogical Seminary and Avalonian Training Intensives.
You may want to
think of your dues as a representation of energy you would expend if we were all
in Ancient Avalon, living and working together. Instead of tending the herb
garden, for instance, you contribute your energy exchange in the form of
dollars. You may further your service to the Sisterhood, if you wish, by
volunteering your skills, resources and talents as the need arises and as your
spirit moves you.
Please address any
questions you may have to BoardSecretary@SisterhoodofAvalon.org.
